چکیده

We present a case study that utilizes UML modeling methodology for typical business applications. Such applications generally contain a GUI front-end for manipulating database tables and are object-relational systems that deal with both relational databases and object-oriented technology. To model such applications, we use UML Profiles and metamodels based on a three-tiered application architecture for the different stages of the development lifecycles. The benefits of the model-driven approach include the possible use of the models for maintenance processes such as incremental code generation, updating test cases, and documentation. These models also enable developers to validate the application’s flow by simulating its behavior through model

Engineering long-lived applications using MDA

Creating long-lived software systems requires a technology to build systems with good maintainability. One of the core ideas of the Model Driven Architecture (MDA) is to ease the change of the run-time platform by raising the level of abstraction in which just the business aspects are modelled, and by separating business aspects from technical issues and implementation details. This article ana...

Automated Quality Assurance for UML Models

Model based development, like proposed by the OMG’s Model Driven Architecture (MDA), aims to raise the level of abstraction from working on the code to working with models. For a professional production environment, the means for quality assurance on the model level are scarce. We introduce an approach for automated quality assurance on the model level, integrated into the tool of a modern deve...

Availability analysis of mechanical systems with condition-based maintenance using semi-Markov and evaluation of optimal condition monitoring interval

Maintenance helps to extend equipment life by improving its condition and avoiding catastrophic failures. Appropriate model or mechanism is, thus, needed to quantify system availability vis-a-vis a given maintenance strategy, which will assist in decision-making for optimal utilization of maintenance resources. This paper deals with semi-Markov process (SMP) modeling for steady state availabili...

Towards agent-oriented model-driven architecture

Received: 30 November 2006 Revised: 25 April 2007 Accepted: 27 July 2007 Abstract Model-Driven Architecture (MDA) supports the transformation from reusable models to executable software. Business representations, however, cannot be fully and explicitly represented in such models for direct transformation into running systems. Thus, once business needs change, the language abstractions used by M...

A reliability-based maintenance technicians’ workloads optimisation model with stochastic consideration

The growing interest in technicians’ workloads research is probably associated with the recent surge in competition. This was prompted by unprecedented technological development that triggers changes in customer tastes and preferences for industrial goods. In a quest for business improvement, this worldwide intense competition in industries has stimulated theories and practical frameworks that ...
